Units are usually set in half / whole term chunks and students receive a grade currently -, =, +, WWW and EBI from the teacher in order to focus on improvements in the following unit of work. Most of the feedback in music lessons take place 'as we go' with the teacher discussing, musically demonstrating misconceptions or inaccuracy in the students work as it is happening in the classroom. This give students a chance to correct their performance or composing ideas before they leave the lesson through the provision of visual and auditory cues in addition to verbal feedback.
Students are encouraged to share ideas and thoughts with each other about how they are progressing and each individual student is asked to self assess themselves against a given set of criteria for each unit of work. Work is collected mainly in audio /visual form which students can watch back to plan what their next step is in a sequence of lessons.
